New Deadline for VictoryLand Ruling
The State Supreme Court has given Macon County officials a new deadline to respond to Governor Riley's Task Force on Illegal Gambling's effort to get permission to raid VictoryLand. Macon County Officials have until 4:00 p.m. Monday to respond to Task Force Commander John Tyson's filing. Tyson said the Supreme Court appears to be taking his plea seriously for a raid at VictoryLand. He filed an emergency appeal Thursday night asking the Supreme Court to overturn an injunction by Macon County Circuit Judge Tom Young. The Supreme Court overruled Young last week, but on Thursday, Young refused to lift that ban. He said Tyson will have to wait until the Supreme Court ruling is final in two weeks.
