Authorities have identified a man and woman killed Monday night in a small plane crash at the Tuscaloosa Regional Airport. The couple is identified as 56-year-old Paula Moffett and 41-year-old Mark Yellen, both of Memphis. Capt. Loyd Baker, commander of the Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit, says the couple died when their 2005 Cirrus SR22 crashed at the Tuscaloosa Regional Airport. He says they died just before 7:30 p.m.
Investigators with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board arrived in Tuscaloosa Tuesday to investigate. The airport is now closed because of the investigation. Baker says the plane was en route to Memphis from Miami on a flight that originated in the Dominican Republic. He says the victims were stopping in Tuscaloosa to have dinner with Moffett's daughter.
