Marcell Dareus Arrested

CLEBURNE COUNTY, Ala. (WVUA) - WVUA reporter Travis Leder has confirmed with Cleburne County Sheriff Joe Jacks that Buffalo Bills Deffensive Lineman Marcell Dareus was arrested there Monday night.


According to the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office, Dareus was arrested last night by an Alabama State Trooper. He was taken into the jail, and was subsequently released less than an hour later.


Alabama State Troopers tell WVUA that at 8:30 p.m., an Alabama State Trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding on Interstate 20 at Exit 210, in Cleburne County. ...Read more

BIRMINGHAM (WVUA) - Former Birmingham Baron, Larry Colton says in 1964, there were no black police officers in the city.


But it was that year that the Barons broke color barriers in Alabama.


Colton wrote about the experience in a new book, "Southern Leagues", which is officially on bookstore shelves.


It was a time for baseball stories and catching up.

BIRMINGHAM (WVUA) - Wednesday was a nice day for some baseball.


The Birmingham Barons are once again back in the magic city and the first pitch in their brand new ballpark Wednesday night


It was an electric atmosphere all night at regions field in Downtown Birmingham and the fans were glad to see baseball back in town.

Regions Field

BIRMINGHAM (WVUA) - Wednesday is opening day for the new Regions Field in Downtown Birmingham.


A ribbon cutting is planned for 4:30 p.m. with officials from around the state and the City of Birmingham, including Governor Robert Bentley.


WVUA will bring you live coverage on the WVUA News at 6 and 10.


First pitch in the new stadium is set for 7:05 p.m. against the Mississippi Braves.
