JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say there has been one reported fatality and several injuries from a tornado that hit Kemper County.
Mississippi Emergency Management Agency spokesman Greg Flynn says the fatality was reported to have happened west-northwest of DeKalb, near Mississippi Highway 493.
Flynn says the tornado hit Kemper and Noxubee counties before pushing into Alabama.
He says there are reports of damaged buildings and many power outages in the area. ...Read more
TUSCAOOLSA, Ala. (WVUA) - Storms across Alabama and the Southeast today have left residents cleaning up, including a tornado killing one in east Mississippi.
The worst of the damage in West Alabama is likely in the Pickens County community of Macedonia.
Local residents are cleaning up after an early afternoon storm caused minor structure damage off County Road 75.
Dozens of trees and power lines were toppled as a result of the high winds.

The Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit confirms the victim was 73-year-old Kate Ragsdale.
